Sally's Fund | Services

Since 1982 Sally's Fund has helped Laguna Beach seniors to remain independent with an enhanced quality and dignity of life. With an annual budget of $190,000, we help 110-120 clients yearly, often low income and/or without family nearby, through five programs:

1. STAR Program:
Medical Appointments Transportation
Door-to-door assistance is provided for medical appointments in and out of town that can take as long as six hours with pharmacy stops on the return home. Frail clients with special needs require more than transportation, they need help in and out of cars and buildings along with emotional support and reassurance that Sally's Fund staff provides.
Grocery Shopping and Errands Transportation
Sally's Fund provides door-to-door transportation to the market and other needed stops for mobile clients who are unable to use the public bus system.
Homebound Services
To assist homebound seniors, staff does the grocery shopping, picks up prescriptions, pharmacy items, and other necessities, as well as providing additional vital services. Frequently, Sally's Fund staff is the only social contact the homebound client has, and these home visits give us the opportunity to observe the condition of our clients.

2.Bridging Program:
We continue to serve our clients as they age and are left with no choice but to move into an assisted living facility. We help the client by: helping with the move, making weekly visits of continuing friendship, insuring our clients' needs are being met, and acting as an advocate when needed.
3. Senior Lunch Transportation Program:
This venture is a collaborative effort with the City of Laguna Beach in which the city contracts with us to provide transportation to the daily lunch program at the senior center in a van which the city leases to us.
4. Afternoon Out Program:
Afternoon Out gives eight of our clients a chance to go places weekly as a group in our van. These are places they would not ordinarily get to go. The trips are to discount stores and local places of interest such as scenic areas along our beaches. We are pleased with this program to offer opportunities for our clients to socialize with each other.

5. Forget-Me-Not Progam:
This program is offered to all of those who are alone without friends or family nearby. To these we come with a friendly smile, bring birthday remembrances, holiday greetings, and transport family or friends to see them.
